Matches on exact invoice number, then partial-matches so VCRPL/23-24/326 and 326 still pair up.

Supplier-wise summary

Group by supplier GSTIN, filter by party, and search any invoice, GSTIN or amount.

Browser-only & free

Runs locally in your browser — files are never uploaded. 100% free, no sign-up, no limits.

Functionality of this tool

A faster way to match purchases against IMS. The Invoice Management System went live on 14 October 2024, letting you accept, reject or keep supplier invoices pending before they flow into GSTR-2B on the official GST portal. Download the GSTR-2 Excel format.

  • Reconcile GSTR-2 with IMS data (purchases, credit & debit notes).
  • Matches first on exact invoice number, then partial-matches: e.g. VCRPL/23-24/326 in GSTR-2 and 326 in IMS still pair up for the same GSTIN.
  • Reconciled data is shown in green and unreconciled data in red, so mismatches are easy to spot.

How to use the tool

  1. 1Upload JSON or XLSX file(s) in the GSTR-2 section. You can upload more than one file.
  2. 2Upload XLSX file(s) in the IMS section. You can upload more than one file.
  3. 3Use the dropdown's 5 options — All Entries, Present in both, Probable Matches, Only in GSTR-2, Only in IMS — to choose what you see.
  4. 4Group supplier GSTIN-wise or view a total summary, and filter by party from the dropdown or by clicking any GSTIN.
  5. 5Search any invoice number, GSTIN, amount or field, then click Download Excel to export the reconciled data.

How to download GSTR-2 JSON or Excel files

The GSTR-2 file is downloaded from your accounting software. All major accounting software offers an option to export it in Excel, JSON, or both. The IMS file is the XLSX you download from the Invoice Management System on the GST portal after accepting or rejecting inbound invoices.

Frequently asked questions

What is GSTR-2 and IMS reconciliation, and why does it matter?

It compares your purchase register (GSTR-2) against the GST portal's Invoice Management System (IMS), where you accept or reject inbound supplier invoices. Because your accept/reject actions in IMS decide what flows into GSTR-2B and your eligible ITC, reconciling the two helps you claim the right input tax credit and catch mismatches.

What files do I upload to reconcile GSTR-2 with IMS?

Upload your GSTR-2 file as JSON or XLSX in the GSTR-2 section and your IMS file as XLSX in the IMS section. You can upload multiple files in each section. GSTR-2 is exported from your accounting software, which usually offers Excel or JSON downloads.

How does probable (partial) invoice matching work?

The tool first matches on the exact invoice number, then attempts partial matching for the same GSTIN. For example, if an invoice is VCRPL/23-24/326 in GSTR-2 but only 326 in IMS, it is still matched and listed under Probable Matches so you do not miss genuine pairs.

Can I see entries that exist in only GSTR-2 or only IMS?

Yes. A dropdown gives five views: All Entries, Present in both, Probable Matches, Only in GSTR-2, and Only in IMS. Reconciled data shows in green and unreconciled data in red, so missing or one-sided invoices are easy to spot.

Is my GSTR-2 and IMS data safe?

Yes. All reconciliation runs locally in your browser. Your GSTR-2 and IMS files are never uploaded to or stored on any server, and the tool is 100% free with no sign-up and no usage limits.

Can I export the reconciled GSTR-2 vs IMS data to Excel?

Yes. After reviewing any view — grouped supplier-wise or as a total summary — click the Download Excel button to export the reconciled data as a workbook you can keep for records or share with your team.
